If put in a situation she’s uncomfortable or nervous about, Nanao will unconsciously hug the book she carries around as if it could shield her from whatever she is worrying about. Equally, if she becomes agitated, she will drum her fingers along the spine — something many others have learned to be a sign of her flaring temper and wary of.

She will almost always sleep curled up on her side and cuddling a pillow. Because of this and the fact that she’s often scrunched over her desk, Nanao is prone to back and shoulder aches.

She has a particularly strong attachment to the clip that holds her hair back. It was given to her by Shunsui upon her promotion to lieutenant as both congratulations and as a way to soften the blow of Lisa’s memory. She’s asked him how much it’s worth but he either dodges the question or refuses outright to answer.
Thinks it’s a sweet gesture and subtly hides the one she already has.
