Stoker’s writing is really quite revolutionary for its time and I really admire Mina’s courage to finish the battle considering what she was going through. “What kind of question is that?! Y-you’d be embarrassed too if you had to put up with Kyōraku-taichō’s behaviour in public constantly! He has absolutely no sense of propriety!”

‘Dislike’ Headcanon
One thing the bespeckled lieutenant will not tolerate is shoddy paperwork. If there are numerous errors or the writing is illegible, she will stand over the offender until it is completed to standard.

Phobia Headcanon
Nanao is very much a scaredy-cat and is easily frightened by anything touching her unexpectedly. This goes for spiders and other unpleasant insects in particular, rendering her momentarily frozen on sight and jumpy for hours afterwards. Fortunately, Shunsui usually ‘rescues’ her.

Nanao is somewhat selfconscious and very careful about the way she looks, trying not to draw too much attention to areas she deems ‘less than ideal’ as well as not overstating herself. She is a little envious of women with a slightly curvier appearance but doesn’t dislike her own slender frame enough to try to change it.

While she is something of a romantic, Nanao finds it extremely difficult to date — not because there is no interest to, but because a certain captain has a tendency to scare any potential boyfriends away. The longest relationship she managed was conducted with the utmost secrecy, lasting nearly three months before Shunsui found out and terrified the unfortunate man into never going near her again.

Initially Nanao was to become part of the Kidoushuu, showing an unusually strong talent for the demon arts as well as already advanced control over her reiatsu for such a young age, but after bonding strongly with her asauchi she decided that becoming a shinigami would be a better use of her abilities. Every once in a while, the Kidoushuu still makes her an offer to join them but she always declines.
